Saatva Classic
The safe choice. Luxury Firm suits back, side and combination sleepers, and the Lumbar Zone panel keeps your spine neutral all night.
From the best-selling Classic to the adjustable Solaire and the pain-focused Rx, we compared every mattress in Saatva's lineup and matched each one to a sleep style, body type and budget.
Buying a mattress online used to mean guessing. You read a spec sheet, picked a firmness from a dropdown and hoped it felt right three weeks later. Saatva is one of the few brands that removed most of that risk, every mattress ships with free white glove delivery and setup, and you get a full year to decide whether it was the right call.
But “Saatva” isn't one mattress. It's seven very different beds, and the differences matter: an innerspring hybrid built for lumbar support behaves nothing like a flippable latex slab or an air mattress with 50 firmness settings per side. Pick the wrong one and you'll spend the trial period wondering what went wrong.

If you only look at three mattresses in the Saatva range, look at these. Between them they cover the overwhelming majority of sleepers.
The safe choice. Luxury Firm suits back, side and combination sleepers, and the Lumbar Zone panel keeps your spine neutral all night.
Purpose-built for chronic conditions, sciatica, arthritis, herniated disc, scoliosis. The most engineered bed in the lineup.
Certified organic latex over recycled-steel coils, with organic wool and cotton. The coolest-sleeping bed Saatva makes.
Every option side by side, with the one thing that actually distinguishes it.

Three things separate Saatva from the bed-in-a-box crowd – and one of them is the reason returns are rare.
Free white glove delivery is standard: two people bring the mattress in, assemble it in the room you choose and take your old mattress away. Nothing arrives compressed in a box.
Every mattress in the range uses patented Lumbar Zone technology – a reinforced centre panel that stops your hips dropping out of alignment. The Latex Hybrid is endorsed by the American Chiropractic Association.
The 365-night home trial covers every model. Returns carry a $99 processing fee, which is the one cost worth knowing before you order – but a year is far longer than the industry's typical 100 nights.
Three questions decide it for almost everybody. Answer them in order.
Side sleepers need give at the shoulder and hip — Plush Soft Classic, Saatva Rx, or Zenhaven's Luxury Plush side. Back sleepers are best served by Luxury Firm Classic or the HD. Stomach sleepers need the firmest surface available: Firm Classic or Zenhaven flipped to Gentle Firm. Combination sleepers who roll all night want a responsive surface that doesn't trap them – latex or coils, not deep memory foam.
Firmness ratings assume an average build. Under roughly 130 lbs you'll feel every mattress as firmer than advertised, so size down a level. Over 250 lbs, size up, and above 300 lbs the Saatva HD stops being a nice-to-have, because it's the only model with a high-durability coil base rated to 500 lbs and reinforced edges to match.
If you sleep hot, latex and coils beat memory foam every time – the Latex Hybrid and Zenhaven use vented airflow channels and organic wool to move heat away. If you and your partner want different firmnesses, nothing else in the range solves it like the Solaire in Split King, where each side adjusts independently across 50 settings.
The Classic is the only model offered in two profiles, 11.5" and 14.5". The taller build looks more substantial on a low platform bed, but it needs deep-pocket sheets, and it can put the sleeping surface awkwardly high on a tall bed frame. Measure from the floor to the top of your frame before choosing: around 25" to the top of the mattress is comfortable for most people to sit on with feet flat.
All models work on a slatted platform, a solid base or an adjustable base. A traditional box spring isn't required, and Saatva's own adjustable bases are matched to the Solaire's Upper-Flex and split configurations.
None of these mattresses should be flipped, except Zenhaven, which is designed to be. Rotate the others head-to-foot every three to six months for the first two years to even out wear across the comfort layer, then twice a year after that.
Use a breathable protector rather than a waterproof vinyl one, which will undo the cooling work the covers are doing. Every model carries the Guardin botanical antimicrobial treatment, so you don't need to add anything chemical of your own. Keep the mattress tag on — warranty claims need it.
Ranked by how well each one delivers on what it promises, not by price.

The one mattress here that's actually hard to get wrong, three firmnesses mean the Classic can be the right bed for a 120 lb side sleeper and a 240 lb back sleeper alike.
The Classic is Saatva's benchmark, and it earns the position. A 3" Euro pillow top sits over a dual-coil support system – over 1,000 recycled carbon steel coils in full size and up, triple-tempered for durability — which produces something increasingly rare: a true innerspring bounce with a plush surface on top. You sleep on this mattress rather than in it, which is why combination sleepers get along with it so well.
What makes it the default recommendation is the firmness range. Luxury Firm (5–7/10) is the most popular option for good reason – it's the middle ground that works for back, side and combination sleepers. Plush Soft (3/10) is there for lighter side sleepers who need shoulder give, and Firm (8/10) handles stomach sleepers and heavier bodies up to around 300 lbs. The patented Lumbar Zone panel runs through the centre third in all three.

Saatva calls it the first luxury mattress designed specifically for chronic back and joint conditions, and the construction backs up the claim rather than decorating it.
The Rx exists for a specific group of people: those managing sciatica, arthritis, a herniated disc or scoliosis, for whom an ordinary mattress makes mornings worse. At its centre is the Therapeutic Support Core: an Rx Wave-Tech foam layer infused with graphite and phase-change material for temperature regulation, a 28" Comfort Coil unit of triple-tempered recycled steel, and high-density foam rails around the perimeter.
On top of that sits a gel-infused memory foam lumbar crown for extra pressure relief through the lower back, Lumbar Zone quilting, and an organic cotton cover. The surface is Supportive Plush, 3–4/10; soft enough to relieve pressure points, with the structure underneath doing the actual support work. That combination suits side sleepers best, and works for back and combination sleepers too; stomach sleepers under 130 lbs can manage it, but heavier stomach sleepers should look at the Classic in Firm.

If you wake up hot, this is the bed to buy. Vented latex over wrapped coils, with organic wool doing the temperature regulation: there is nowhere for heat to collect.
The Latex Hybrid pairs a 5-zone natural latex comfort layer – with vented airflow channels cut through it, over individually wrapped recycled steel coils. Organic New Zealand wool sits in the build for temperature regulation, and the whole thing is hand-tufted rather than glued, under a naturally breathable organic cotton cover. Latex is springier and cooler than memory foam by nature, and the zoning means it yields under the shoulders while staying firm through the lumbar region.
The certifications are the real differentiator for anyone shopping on materials: GOLS-certified organic latex, eco-INSTITUT certified, GREENGUARD Gold certified, and an endorsement from the American Chiropractic Association. At Medium-Firm (6/10) it lands slightly firmer than the Classic's Luxury Firm, which makes it a strong pick for back sleepers and heavier side sleepers.

The only mattress here that ends the firmness argument permanently: 50 settings a side, adjusted independently, on the same bed.
The Solaire is an adjustable air mattress, but it isn't the hollow-feeling kind. Above the air chambers sit a 3" Euro pillow top, 1" of natural latex and 2" of cooling gel-infused memory foam, so the surface feels like a premium mattress rather than a mattress-shaped balloon. Each side offers 50 firmness settings on a 0–50 scale, grouped roughly as Soft (3–4/10), Medium (5–6/10) and Firm (7–8/10).
In Queen and larger, dual air chambers mean each person sets their own side. It's also offered in Split King and Split Cal King for use with split adjustable bases, and in Upper-Flex Queen and King to pair with Saatva's Adjustable Base Plus. Saatva specifically calls out quiet, streamlined components, a fair concern with air beds, and one they've clearly engineered around.

Buy the wrong firmness and you just flip the mattress over. It's the most forgiving purchase in the entire range.
Zenhaven is a flippable, dual-sided all-latex mattress: Luxury Plush (medium, 4–5/10) on one face and Gentle Firm (7–8/10) on the other. That single design decision removes the biggest risk in buying a mattress online. If the side you chose feels wrong after two weeks, you flip it instead of starting a return.
The core is 5-zone GOLS-certified organic latex with vented airflow channels and Lumbar Zone technology, wrapped in a breathable organic cotton blend with organic New Zealand wool for temperature regulation, plus the Guardin botanical antimicrobial treatment. Latex is also the most durable comfort material in common use: it resists the body impressions that eventually finish off foam beds.

Most 'heavy duty' mattresses are just firmer. The HD is actually rebuilt; stronger coils, reinforced rails and edge support rated to the same 500 lbs as the sleeping surface.
Saatva engineered the HD to comfortably support sleepers up to 500 lbs using a high-durability coil base, with tempered steel coils the brand says are 25% stronger than the industry standard. Just as important, the high-density foam base and rails are rated for sleepers up to 500 lbs too — edge collapse is what usually fails first on a standard mattress under heavier load, and it's addressed here directly.
Comfort hasn't been traded away for strength. There's a 3" hand-tufted Euro pillow top, a 5-zone natural latex layer, a denser comfort layer and a responsive coil unit, plus patented Lumbar Zone Technology with a Lumbar Zone Active Spinal Wire. It's rated Luxury Firm (5–7/10) and suits back sleepers best. One honest caveat straight from Saatva: sleepers under 300 lbs will find the HD firmer in feel.

The entry point into the range, and the only Saatva that offers real memory-foam contouring without giving up coil support underneath.
This is the model to choose if you came looking for that slow, pressure-relieving memory foam sink but still want coils doing the structural work. AirCradle memory foam provides the body-contouring top layer, a cooling gel-infused memory foam lumbar crown adds lower-back support, and individually wrapped comfort coils sit beneath; so you get contouring with responsiveness and far better edge support than an all-foam bed.
The cooling story is the other reason it works: memory foam traps heat, and Saatva counters that here with the triple-phase LuxeCool system rather than hoping a breathable cover will do the job. It ranks last here not because it's weak, but because every mattress above it does something more distinctive, this is the sensible, lower-priced all-rounder.

The Classic is a general-purpose luxury innerspring hybrid available in three firmnesses, built to suit as many sleepers as possible. The Rx is a specialist mattress designed for people with diagnosed chronic back and joint conditions — sciatica, arthritis, herniated disc, scoliosis, and comes in one firmness only, Supportive Plush (3–4/10).
The Rx adds a Therapeutic Support Core with graphite and phase-change cooling, a 28" Comfort Coil unit and a gel memory foam lumbar crown. If you have persistent pain, that engineering is worth paying for. If you just want a very good mattress, the Classic in Luxury Firm delivers most of the benefit for less.
No. All of these mattresses work on a slatted platform bed, a solid foundation or an adjustable base. A traditional box spring isn't required – slats should be no more than about 3 inches apart to give the mattress even support. The Solaire additionally pairs with Saatva's own adjustable bases for its Split King, Split Cal King and Upper-Flex configurations.
You get a full year of sleeping on the mattress to decide. Saatva asks that you give it a genuine adjustment period first: two to four weeks is the usual advice, because your body needs time to adapt to new support before a fair judgement is possible.
If you decide to return it within the 365 nights, a $99 processing fee applies and the rest is refunded. Exchanges are also possible during the trial. The fee is the one cost worth factoring in up front, but a year is substantially longer than the 100-night trial most competitors offer.
Yes – free delivery and setup is standard across the range. A two-person team brings the mattress into your home, assembles it in the room you've chosen, and removes your old mattress. Nothing arrives compressed in a box, which also means no off-gassing period and no wrestling a vacuum-packed mattress up a staircase.
Side sleepers need the mattress to give at the shoulder and hip while still holding the lower back level. The best options are the Classic in Plush Soft (3/10), the Saatva Rx (3–4/10, and the better pick if you also have hip or shoulder pain), or Zenhaven on its Luxury Plush side (4–5/10). Avoid the Classic in Firm and the HD unless you're well over 250 lbs.
For most people, most of the time, the Saatva Classic in Luxury Firm is the right mattress in this range – and you have 365 nights to disagree.
